View Full Version : how do i get brine shrimp for my fry??
hey, this may be a silly question, but, how do i get brine shrimp to grow and feed my fry?
thanks for your help!!
 mimi
I went the cheap route and made my own hatchery. The little bottle with the eggs cost like 3-5$ for 10-20 or more batches of brine shrimp. I took a peanut butter jar, cleaned it and drilled a hole in the top lid the size of air line tube. Hook up a air pump to it and put the hose in down to near the bottom of the jar. I drilled a extra hole too just to make sure no pressure built up or anything. Dechlorinate the water in jar, add aquarium salt, and add some eggs. Let it bubble for 24-30 hours. By the next day you should start seeing little shrimp squiggling around. Woolah you have a bunch of baby brine shrimp for your fry to go ape **** on. Pretty soon the fry will be waiting for you every day for their feast  I was having to make a batch every other day or so, my little 10 gallon had/has over 30 fry in it heh. There may be frozen forms of the food you can buy too.

you can also feed your fry decapsulated brine shrimp eggs--you get all of the benefits of feeding brine shrimp, without the hassle.
