Today I get home and the algae bloom is so bad that I can hardly see my fish. I tested water and all is great!

How many hours per day are you leaving your lights on?

hey, carbon is basicaly useless after about 4 days. i would go with a crushed coral buffer or bio balls.
for the algea i would do a couple of 20% water changes over a weeks time. (is it suspended or on the glass)

I've been leaving the lights off except for feeding (2/day). I am not using carbon filters...I am using home made poly filters in two emp 400's. The algae is suspended - green water. I have alot of holey rock w/ minor algae cover (which I want) and pool filter media substrate. When this happened with my 15g I did 25% water changes per day for about a week. This is a 75g at only six weeks old. What do you think?

thx sunny

Is it phosphate in the water that can make algae grow? Anyone know? ..I just read something on that.....
