My fishes are dying and I dont know why... I have two ten gallons with unidentified African Rift Cichlids (see African id post) and another with L. brichardi and rosy barbs.

Just a couple days ago I turned the lights on to find one brichardi and two of my unidentified cichlids dead. They had been fine the night before, eating and everything. The tank is brand new but has been cycled for a few weeks now. The water is warm enough and is the right hardness for rift cichlids. The tank water looks clean. What could have killed them so fast? The other fish were not aggressive to each other so thats out. Just another died this morning so now I have one of each species in each tank. By the way, my rosy barbs are just fine.... :?

Have u checked your ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates level. One of the three is probably high since u r cycling and each one can be deadly. Get some filter drippings from an established tank (your lfs) and do a 25%-50% water exchange weekly and it will speed the cycling up if not end it. Thats it what i did and it worked great in no time at all my ammonia and nitrites were zero. (Thanks to all the help from this site  )
