Okay, I finally tried posting pictures. My digital camera is a cheapy, but you can sort of tell what some of the pictures are. Hopefully I'll figure out the scanner too so I can get better shots without buying a $600 camera.

Hope this works. :?

Well I will say that it is not a Xenotilapia species. The next time I am over I will be able to tell you what it is. I can't be sure with that picture but it doesn't resemble any of the Xeno species. As far as a good cheap camera I have had wonderful success with an HP 215. It was the cheapest thing I could find with autofocus and macro. I have a couple of other people that have purchased the camera and have also been able to take good fish photos. Or you will just have to host another club meeting and I will have to bring my camera.

that fish looks like some sort of lamprologine to me. :?

That's just what it was ID'd as in the store. I didn't think the mouth looked right, but I couldn't come up with another name anyway. I'll see if I can get a better shot.

Sean: How much do the HP 215 cost? I really want one with a macro lens. Oh and the chance of me hosting another COMAS meeting are pretty slim unless I knock down a few walls. There's just too many members. :)

I think the last person that I know that bought one paid $149. I don't know if they still make the 215 or if it has been upgraded. Yeah I understand about the comas meeting. I am considering hosting one earlier next year. I think I am going to need to add onto my house before I do. :D I guess I will just have to drive out to mustang one of these days and see for myself. Guess I'll be needing to pick up some multi babies here before to long.

Hey, it turned out that the coral wasn't Goniopora (even though that's what I bought it as), it was Parazoanthus gracillis, yellow polyps. I only paid $25 so I don't feel too bad, but it was somewhat embarassing to find out.

Did you buy the hp215 locally or did you buy online? $149 seems really reasonable for a camera with macro ability. I might not have to wait for Santa Clause.

Find one like the first link with a black spot on the gill covers and I think we might have a winner. It's kind of hard to get a good look at her, she's not as forward as the other fish in the tank.

The body seems more slender as well, but it might be due to immaturity.

that was the closest i could find. i think the body shape looks like leleupi, but the colors were not right for any of the populations that i saw. i agree that the body of your fish seems to be sleeker than the caudopunctatus. good luck with the search!

How long do you think it'll take to be big enough for sale/trade and what are f1's worth? There's a lot of fish still out there I still don't own.

I got mine at Circuit City.

The multis should be 1/2 inch or bigger and I am sure we can work out something on a trade. The only problem is that I can usually buy the wild caughts fairly cheaply. I am sure I can find something you can't live without.

Hey Jonah, that mystery fish looks like a NeoLamprologus Falcicula or Lamprologus Cygnus.
The Julie looks like Ornatus.

Kevin

i don't think that the mouth shape is right for leptosoma--but, we need a clearer pic, i think.

I think your julidochromis is a dickfeldii- i have one that looks just like it. Nice
marine pictures. I used to have a marine tank but accidentallly pulled the plug on my fish one day
Hope you didn't go to Sitka just for the halibut.

I've been leaning towards dickfeldi too.

The halibut was nice, but I was more interested in the salmon fishing. It was a beautiful little port. I especially enjoyed the Trans-Siberian Flamingos. A local joke in Sitka.

One of the locals climbed a hundred foot tree along the channel and planted a flock of lawn flamingos near the top. The guides are always pointing out local wildlife like bears and otters, so when they point out the flamingos it's not too hard to fool the customers. They're so far away you can't see them without binoculars and even then it's just a group of bright pink spots at the top of a pine tree. It fooled me for about 20 seconds until I started thinking about where flamingos come from.

Okay, the Julie is definitly a dickfeldi. I found an article in an AFM that had really good pictures for ID's.
