welcome, mate! a friendlier group you'll never find! 8)
By all means, please join in! Always happy to welcome a new member, especially one that keeps American cichilds. BTW, stay away from that Gypsy, she'll try and corrupt you and turn you to Africans.
She's starting to turn me, but don't let her do it to you. :D
I do hope you'll be an active member of the American cichlid forums. We could use more input and more members. Our moderator Rex is one of the most experienced and informed keepers of American cichlids I have had the pleasure of conversing with, and he's very helpful too! Again, welcome to the forums. 8)
Just kidding. Aside from being one of our most experienced and passionate keepers of African cichlids, our gypsy mermaid is the forum's #1 cheerleader and has become a mascot of sorts, or atleast she has for me. Her kindness, cheerfulness, and willingness to help has helped keep the forum going and I think she has been a major contributor to the growth of the forums, eventhough I don't think she realizes it. I just have to give her a hard time occassionally, cause she's always converting people to africans. This is the best American forum on the internet, one of the best african forums, and is definitely the forum with the friendliest and least snobbish members. Enjoy, and sorry for rambling... :D

this is patently untrue--i have had to admonish chet on several occasions that proseletyzing is not allowed, yet he continually attempts to lure folks from the lake cichlid forums over to the 'dark side'.

You must have me confused with someone else...

Unfortunately, we don't have a secret handshake, although I think we should have Tom work on that... As far as what you have to offer, we only ask that you offer two things: your friendship and your knowledge.
Of course, you can throw in some encouragement, humor, and occasional sarcasm if you like. :D
