I hope someone on here can help identify my fish! I got her from my local petsmart the other day and she was labeled "Haplochromis obliquidens" I found this to be untrue as the are very rare or extinct according to the net. I no she is a female and a moothbrooder - she was holding about 30 babies in her mouth when I got her. She has a silvery body with very light yellow fins, very faint vertical stripes on her body and a darker one on her head going through her eye. Please help!

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the name usually goes with Astatotilapia latifasciata, a Lake Victorian cichlid. I'll move this to African ID, but leave the link in Americans.

actually, the astatotilapia latifasciata is usually called 'zebra obliquedens', and the hap. sp. 44 is usually called 'obliquedens'...but there are some other fish in the mix, also. your fish looks like some other victorian. i would raise the fry to see what they look like, but i would not distribute them.
