It seems like most Synodontis are considered semi-aggressive? Would a S. eupterus and a S. ocellifer be alright together in a 55g with cichlids? Would the eupterus pick on the ocellifer?

Could I put some sort of suckermouthed fish in there with them? Would they bully a 4" Pleco?

I'm no synno expert, but according to a guy one another forum who's into raising catfish and plecos, some synnos won't tolerate other catfish well, and some will only chase conspecifics and some are highly social. For example, he said two synno granulosa would kill each other unless you had an extremely large tank, but one granny and a school of petricolas were just fine together.

i keep several different syno species together. they play at fighting...jostling and chasing, but they do no harm. i think that the eupterus and the ocellifer will be fine together.

Planetcatfish is a very helpful site. Thank you.

Looks like the eupterus and ocellifer would be fine together but it doesn't say if they would be hostile towards other scavengers.

I didn't realize that both of those fish would get to around 8" (I thought the ocellifer was smaller) so, if everyone could get along, maybe one of the synos, a bristlenose, and my three clown loaches would be better?

What do you think?

petricolas stay very small. all of the bottom feeders will be competing for the same space.
