Chamelion Cichlid??????

I have a strang mbuna. When I bought her a the lfs she had all the apearence of a socolofi, when i got her home she had changed all of the sudden she had stripes, she looked like a damosoni. In the two months that I've had her she changes constantly sometines even looking like a cobalt. can someone tell me what she is.:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

some of my socolofi show bars and others don't. your fish is probably just doing the normal "cichlid color-changing trick". just depends on their mood.:wink:

thanks gypsy if I can I'll get you a pic I hope that she's a socolofi because she and my male have just had a small family of about 20 frye giv or take and I'm trying to avoid hybridization. most of the time she has all the apearence of a socolofi though.

My socolofi is constantly changing. She almost always showed bars when she was little (I say she because my daughter named her Blue Bonnet - not really sure). Now she is mostly powder blue with the dark edging on the fin. On ocassion her color darkens, like when someone is messing around in her favorite cave, and you can see the bars. I recently added a nasty fish to my tank - unknowingly, of course. She was so dark I was shocked! You could barely see the lighter blue behind the stripes.

Thats a relief I thought that I may have had a hybrid problen on my hands beings as her and my male socolofi decided that they liked each other
