Hi my one year old Aulonocara baenschi has never held before, since we got her as a fry, one year later she is now holding here first batch of eggs, and is being circled very meticulously by a Yellow lab ( labidochromis)... WTF? is this possible? we recently added 4 male peacocks, to our tank but none are paying any attention to her, i cant help but feel that this is why she is suddenly deciding to hold eggs, but why would the lab pay so much attention to her? Is it possible for them to cross breed? has anyone had this happen before?

Welcome to the clubhouse.
why would the lab pay so much attention to her?
The lab is aware she is holding and hoping for a fumble and an easy meal.

If I read your post correctly and the males were added prior to her holding, it’s a good bet one of them is the Papa. One of them has already paid his attention; they don’t cuddle after the deed.
Is it possible for them to cross breed?
Possible = yes
Likely = would be unusal with males of her own species available but stranger things have happened.
Good luck with the brood.
