hello all, just came home from work to find my bumble bee dead. I'm a little depressed so i figured i would join this forum and stop wondering what is going on in my little eco-system (55gal) and maybe get some real answers. I moved him/her to a hospital tank a day ago, he showed no visible signs except for not eating, fins were not clamped? Within the last week a female kenyi took a dislike to him, but he had no fin damage. Now i'm just standing by waiting, to see if anyone else starts feeling bad. I guess if things like this didn't happen "it"(cichlid keeping) wouldn't be so interesting.

welcome bosn! :) can you give us some more info about your set-up? what fish are in it, substrate/rockwork, filtration water parameters, water changing schedule, and anything else.

55gal w/sub of gravel and florite (it was a planted tank) the filtration is a fluval 304 and a power head for circulation, there are half a dozen anubia type plants and a large amazon sword (i know a planted cichlid tank is a contradiction but it looks soooo good!) water changes are 25-30% a week w/ Seachems Cichlid Lake Salt. my tap water is a ph of 8+ and the tank is about 8.0 gh/kh is 10-12. it is lit by two daylight 20w for 7hrs/day. living in my world are two/three female kenyi (one can't make up its mind) but i know its a male and two other males, also a lone jewel cichlid left over from the planted days who just won't leave. every one is pretty happy maybe the bumble bee just wasn't the best tank mate for the Kenyi

sounds like a healthy set-up--maybe your bumblebee was beaten into bad health. keep us posted on the rest of your fish. :?
