Do any of you guys have strange fishy dreams?

I had one the other night that was kind of weird. In my dream, one of my 55 gallon tanks started to leak - the seal on the right side of the tank was spewing water out onto the floor. Plus, the tank itself was hanging off the stand - about 50% off. And the bottom glass - on the part that was hanging off the stand was completely detached from the tank , but it was still holding the water except for a few trickles.

I told my wife to go out and buy a new tank and I set out trying to deal with the problem I was facing. I must have had the strength of superman because I pushed the tank so that it was completely on the stand (the water was only down about 25%). Then I began to empty the rest of the water into a 65 gallon rubbermaid container ( i don't even own something like this. i don't even know how I knew it was 65 gallons) . By the time I had all of my fish in the rubbermaid container my wife had returned from the store with a 55 gallon tank. We took off the old one and put on the new one and began filling it with water/fish, etc. My wife said she was going to go throw out the broken 55 gallon tank but I told her not to because I would reseal it and use it again.

That's when I woke up.

I suppose I really want another tank. Bad subliminal mind!

 andy i had one in the summer. i dreamed that a fire had started behind one of the fifty-five gal. tanks, and i couldn't get behind it to put the fire out. i kept trying to make my dad understand how critical the situation was, but i couldn't get him to help me. i woke up with a pounding headache and, of course, i had to come downstairs to make sure that the tanks were ok--that was a fishy nightmare!

Yeah, it seems I never have the peaceful kind either. It's always involving tanks leaking or busting. Then you wake up all freaked out in a cold sweat and just want to be held. Am I right?

Mine wasn't really a cold-sweat dream because I was able to save my fish and get a new tank.

I just had another one but this is more about my dog than my fish. This isn't my dream - just a backstory. We have a small pond in my backyard (too small for fish). And we noticed that there was a frog swimming in the pond. My wife loved it - watched the frog for hours. Later, my wife let our dogs out. My dog (whenever she does something bad - its my dog) while not large (about 14lbs.) is a killer. She is a jackrussel terrier and the notches in her belt include birds, squirrels, numerous small rodents - mice, moles, chipmunks and my sister's hermit crab (she ate the claws and legs off the crab - it died of its wounds later). Of course, she found the frog and just tore it apart. I had to go out and clean the up the mess. a leg here, some guts there - not pleasant. My wife told me last night that my dog was up on the chair and clawing at my fish tank and whimpering at the fish (before this she was the only dog that noticed the fish). My conclusion was that she figured out that there were things she could kill below the water. We saw her at the pond sticking her head in the water and pulling out leaves probably in the hope of getting another delicacy.

That was a very long backstory for four lines of dream.

My dream last night was that my dog had grown to giant size and was killing my fish. Sticking her head in my tanks and just pulling out fish at random. I woke up in a cold sweat but calmed down when I saw that my dog was only 14 lbs. I went and checked on my fish anyway.

what are you eating before bed? i usually have those dreams when i've overeaten or had something really spicy.

Last night I had pepperoni pizza - a little spicy. Usually I get up in the middle of the night to let the dogs out and I have oreo cookies and milk. I don't think its something I ate. I've always had odd dreams. I used to have night terrors every night when I was little (wake up screaming - that kind of thing - I used to think folds in the blanket and socks were snakes coming to choke me to death). I seldom have them anymore although, I scared wife pretty bad a few months ago when I screamed in her ear and started kickng my legs. I was in a fight for my life in the dreamworld.

I'll keep posting any the really strange/good dreams. I can't believe no one else has any dreams about their fish. I've only been in the hobby for about a year and I have had so many dreams. I have had dreams where my fish talk to me. Do you guys only have nightmares about your fish?

I've had several weird fishy dreams. They almost always concern tank maintenance. The one that bothered me the most was about my 55 gallon. Apparently, we had moved to a larger house and I had tanks in several rooms. My 55 gallon was in a back room and I forgot it was even there. I walked back there one day to find the tank full of huge fish, including a GT that had to have been 14" and several large mbuna. The tank was also cloudy and the wallls were covered with algae. I felt so bad for not cleaning the tank and not feeding the fish, and yet they were absolutely huge! Very weird dream.

I have dreams about my Jag tank getting dirty all the time, I guess I just feel guilty worrying about whether or not my fish's home is clean enough. Glad I'm not the only one... :D

I usually find a good bit of strong cheese gets you dreaming well.

I've had a couple of fish dreams.

First one was that the tank 'broke', it just fell appart but all the water just disappeared and the fish just started 'flying' (in a swimming motion) through the air! I ended up with a room full of fish, most of them weren't even mine!

I had another one a few nights ago that I went to the local fish shop to see what they had. The shop was completely different to how it normally is, It was actually outside and all the fish were kept in rabbit cages! I eventually ended up buying a couple of bright pink pleco's! They looked a bit better than the yellow and blue ones!
I even woke up in the morning and thought...... did I really buy any fish yesterday?

My latest fish dream:

I come into my fish room, find all of my tanks empty except for the big one and all of my fish have been dumped in there by my lovely wife. She re-did the filters and pumps and took out all the cool rocks and replaced them with McDonalds cups and trash bags. There was Haloween candy in the tank too. I freaked out and yelled at her all the while trying to rectify the situation. M was acting like nothing was wrong and what she did was an improvement. Then my neighbor came over with some chill out meds and tried to give them to me. Then the phone rang and I woke up.

Me? It's Overawed's fault for dragging me down. Besides, I actually typed in 4 asterisks. I don't even know if we have a filter on this forum. I just assumed we were all very well behaved. :D

I very rarely remember dreams, but my wife says I talk about my fish in my sleep all the time.

Hope you don't mind me bringing this post back up again.

A few nights ago I had a dream that my fish tank moved itself to the toilet! and then when I went in there to see what was going on the fish were talking to each other....!

At the moment I only have one tank but as soon as I have the space I will be getting 1 (read some) more. In this dream I was trying to work out what to do with my talking fish when another tank appeared in the spare bedroom...... I then woke up roundabout this time.

The scary thing is that the same night I also had a dream that I went and watched my local football team and we won 1-0, with the goal being a bit debatable. Today I went to watch my local football team and we won 1-0, the goal being a bit debatable!!!!
I'l let you know when my fish start talking!

I had a really odd fish dream a few weeks ago. I was in a big room, that looked like a pool house, but no pool. There was a short staircase going down into it at an angle from one corner. At the far end there were two huge fish tanks and there was a bench with a face carved into it along with horseshoes. And there were plants everywhere.

Now the weird part was that a couple of days later I went to a club meeting at a home I'd never been too before and as soon as I reached the top of the stairs I knew what the room would look like. I even remembered the bench carving with the face away from me. There were a couple of big tanks (easily over 200g) against the far wall with a bench facing them. On the bench was a carving of a sun with a face on it and horseshoes.

Later on the owner told me the room used to have a pool in it, but it had been filled in before they bought the house. Not really weird fish wise, but still an odd dream just the same.

Do you think I should tell the owner about the body under the concrete? :?

Just joking about the body. The rest of the story is true.

In a recent dream I had the most wonderful tanks in every room of our new-to-us house!! This is truly a dream as we are still in the fix-it phase and will not be moving in for several weeks yet. They were all huge wonderful cichlid tanks and my husband was walking room to room with me admiring them all - Only in a dream :)

OMG, I am a old thread hag lol:lol2:. I just had to bump this thread up again. I just laughed my head off reading some of these fish dreams. I am under so much pressure waiting on Amaya's holding mother to spit, it's a wonder I sleep at all:drink:. That fish has to do something sooner or later. Now if it's morning and your just now reading this, what did you dream about? LMAO Julia :D
