I am thinking about getting a breeding tank to breed peacock. What size tank is good for that? What should the male female ratio be? I have never breed before so the more information I can get the better. Thanks

Well friend, Aulonocara are harem spawners so it would be good to keep several females to a male like a 2m/5f or 1m/4f ratio. Not more than 2 males though. If you want to do 10 females I think more power to you. lol. I have breed them in 40 gallon breeders where they have enough room but nothing like having a 75g for them. I love watching the male go bonkers for the female.
In all honesty I will say a 20 gallon will work but the more room the better. It's all about quality of life friend.

I was thiking a 20 maybe I can find something bigger for good price been checking craigslist. Also if I want to breed blue regals and otterpoints in the same tank could k do that or does it have to be one species because the males will fight

One species. With two species there will quite likely be cross-breeding as one male will dominate and do all the breeding. Multiple males with females present may fight, even within the same species.

Okay so I will try with one breed if I decided to try it out. What type of condition do they like to breed in?

Wet should do.
Seriously, just provide good water quality suitable for african cichlid keeping, and some hiding spots so that females that want a break from the male's attention have somewhere to go. Otherwise assuming they are of age they should breed very easily. Have a plan for what to do with the offspring though. Either a growout tank to put the fry in or alternate tank to remove the adults to... Once the young reach a certain size they can be kept with the adults (assuming adequate tank size, filtration & water maintenance), but the presence of a coloured up adult male may inhibit/delay any of the young males from fully colouring up. I prefer to grow them on separated from the parents in order to get good colour earlier. Even then you may only get one or two colouring up at a time. Sell those off in order to promote others' colouring up. Good luck.

A 20 is small for fully grown peacocks. I would go with a 3 ft tank ay least. Especially for the larger species like jacobfreibergi. The males get too large and aggressive for small tanks.

Agree 100%. The 40g breeder suggested earlier in the thread would be much more appropriate.

good luck, regardless of what you find, you want the largest footprint possible, forget height.
