What's the best lighting for african cichlids? I've heard that the blue in these bulbs helps bring out the colors in cichlids. What are your thoughts on this?

Thomas- You'll probably get lots of different opinions on this, but I like the regular full spectrum daylight tubes that you get at the hardware store. The natural daylight makes the fish look like they would outside, and adds a more realistic look to the aquarium. Besides you can't beat $5 for a four foot bulb 8)

I agree, I noticed Home Depot has aquarium bulbs for 25.00 cheaper than my 50/50's
