frys - trade or sell?

What does everybody do with their frys, sell or trade them? Just want to know what others do.

i usually don't do anything to save my fry--whoever makes it grows up in the tank. this year i saved a batch of pyxichromis orthostoma because they are rare and extinct in the wild. i will trade a few, and establish a larger colony with the others. i also saved what i thought were d. compressiceps, but i now realize that my females are not d. compressiceps. so i'll have to set up a tank for them or feed them to my rope fish.

I'm with SGypsyMermaid - since I am not a "breeder" per se, but simply happen to have fish that like to, uh, play around, I don't do anything special with the fry. On top of that, they are all hybrids, since I don't have two of any one species. I hesitate to even give them away.

I would say sell them if possible. Even if you took them to the LFS for store credit, you could use it to buy fish food or something. Or skip a step and just use them for feeders. Anyway, I would recommend trying to get the most out of them which ever way possible.

selling them or giving them away is great, as long as you know that they are not hybrids. :wink:

I like to sell mine for in store credit I get .50 to a 1.00 depending on type of cichlid,It helps pay for the fish food,birdfood etc....
As mentioned in the other posts I wouldn't sell hybrids or deformities.
I had some Brichardi come out with the flat face look so I fed the fry to the 125g

I'm with boilermaker, I have about 60 Red Eureka fry albino and standard and I am buying a grow out tank for them because I have a few store who will pay 5 bucks for each one inch. I gotta get my breeders liscence now. And learn to spell :p
