aquarium lighting for my Oscars, advice plsss

I don't have any live plants in my tank, just two pieces of wood.

I was wondering, what type/kind of flourent light blub should i use.
Is there any difference between the ones that i can get at local home hardware store and the ones in petsshops?
Whats the proper wattage, along with anything that I should beware of setting up the lighting.

Please give me some advices.

If you're not growing plants, a hardware store strip is fine. Just make sure you have glass between the fixture and the water. They aren't water resistent like an aquarium fixture. I have a double 40w on my 55 with one daylight bulb (chroma 50) by GE and an actintic bulb. The daylights are available at HomeDepot and are in bright orange sleeves. A couple of those would be pretty bright. Kind of on the white side, an actintic makes it sort of bluish.
