Sorry to say it but they do that when there going to die, i have had about 20 betta's and i was told to feed them 3 times a day witch is way WRONG!!$#@@!# they stop eating and cant even look at the food they stay at the bottom and its like they want to be left alone. feed them only once every 2 or 3 days, mine were dieing every 5 days, then a new lfs told me about only feeding them every 2days, i have now had my 8 for about 6 months and they are going on strong, so sorry to tell you it but someone must of over fed it and its sick, dont feed or try to for the next 2 days, see how it goes.
as for the guppy dunno, sorry dont know nothing about those except my fish like to eat them

Is the guppy a male? Betta's are known to go the males due to the bright colouration, & because they're bigger can dominate them a bit. Some say it's mistaken identity, thinking it's a male betta.
Having said that, your betta doesn't sound in the condition to be mistreating anything, watch for secondary signs in case it is illness. I'd do a partial water change to get the uneaten food out, then leave them for 2 days as 2qik advised.

have you thought about adding more guppies to your tank because guppies should be school for them to be happy in there homes

I wouldn't worry too much about a fish not eating unless it is in excess of 3 days. At that point you should be trying to see if there is any swelling around the belly or anus. Find out what the poop looks like. Different poops mean different things. If he's not pooping, there's your trouble. Check the mouth for any abnormalities. I begin worrying & treatment at around 5-7 days. They won't die from starvation if they don't eat for a week. Sometimes they just have to work something out. If you just got him he can be adjusting and a bit stressed out. They won't eat if they are stressed.

I wouldn't feed him until he shows some interest in you. Otherwise you'll just be polluting the tank... Good Luck!

KG is right - guppies get depressed without friends.
