I've just ordered a 250 watt Ebo Jager heater from bigals, I've heard many speak highly of this brand. What are your thoughts? Should I go with two in one tank?
I have a Marineland 300 watt, it is weird but works ok. It has auto temp settings.
I've had many of the PP Thermoflows, the last one I found this morning flooded with water in the 55g.
I hope the Ebo Jager can stand the test of time.
What size tank OW?
Ebo are definately the most reliable in my books however if you remember thermal cooked my first mbuna tank

Use an Ebo Jaeger myself - found them to be pretty reliable and long lasting. Definately need to know your tank size though, so you don't overheat by accident.

I have one and it seems to keep it at a constant temp. !

I have not decided which tank it will go in. Either the 55g or the 90g. I thought the thermostat would prevent overheatiing. :?:
Rudy, yes I remember, thanks for reminding me about the thermals
In my opinion on either tank that 250 is fine. All it means is that if the thermostat was to ever stick or fail the heater would cook your 55 2 watts faster.
You should talk to Cichlidjeans he uses a 200 watt on a 25 gallon and has no problems, but then again I use 100 watts on a 10 gallon. I imagine our houses will stink really good one day
I keep seeing people recommend titanium heater, but I don't really know what that's all about. Seems like a titanium heater would last much longer and be much more durable than any glass heater. I personally just order my first two ebo-jaegers from BigAl's. I hope they're as good as everyone says. I have a crappy non-submersible heater that came with my 55, and it makes me nervous as hell. I just hope I get it replaced before I end up with a boiled Green Terror.

The Jager was too long to put in my 55g so it ended up in the 90g by default. I think it is responsible for the escape of my frog as the suction cups are up too high on the tank, I am reluctant to lower them down over the heater coils.
Hey Ow why don't you suction it near the bottom of the 55 on an angle.

Has anyone heard of heaters that actually are built in a canister? I know the Ehiem has one. Are they good?
Since they are about 3 times the price of normal heaters I would say yes. :D
It would sure help OW hide his heaters. The only problem is that people like me hate canister filters

Yeah, I've even seen hang on the backs with heaters built into them.

No I am talking about "real" canister filters. The one I am looking at has a digital display and the heater is a core that is on the base area of the canister.

Yeah, I figured, that is pretty cool sounding. I would think its is very reliable.
