I have had a few batches of fry, nothing major yet. Not enough to sell or give more than a few away.
I would like to be able to sell them at some point.
Maybe not all the time. Still leary about shipping.
My question is
How come people don't sell fry till they are an inch or over....
My first guess is to sex, but with Saulosi, most are sold unsexed anyway.

My only other guess would be saftey to the fry.
But my arguments here are, i had one sit out over night in a bucket with a few drops of water and he is doing well now. So they appear to be hardy.
Also, seems there would be less waste and less cost with shipping smaller fry.
couldn't you put several in a bag? Also if people were concerned about other fish eating new fry, couldn't they just place em in a holding tank?
That's what I'd do...
I guess there'd be a concern on eating oten enough if shipped....
What am I missing to the thought of shipping smaller/younger fry?

I am only guessing as i've never shipped fish.

I think most people wait until 1" because that is a good starting size for most people. Smaller than that the fry may be a bit more susceptible to dying in transit - I'm not sure. Personally, I'd love to be able to get fry at <1", they would be cheaper and the box used for shipping them could be quite small.

One thing that occured to me is to make sure they fry aren't hybrids.
But then A professional probably doesn't have multiple species tanks for breeding

I have successfully ordered 1/2 inch fry before. They where shipped priority mail in the middle of the summer and everything was fine. I think people try to grow them up so they can get more money.

I think the answer is that many people don't have a holding tank. not everyone are breeders and some people just want to have a nice tank in the living room.
