Breeding questions?

my momma just layed eggs and picked them up. I have two good caves set up in the tank but she sits up at the top between the filter and the glass. It has only been an hour or so since see picked them up. Now she is back to running around the tank and i can see her opening her mouth and it looks like there is nothing in there could itbeen she swallowed them because she is not in a cave and does not feel safe enough to nurse????

I think she swallowed unfertilized eggs. Not really that unusual for inexperienced mothers. If you do have a pair they'll figure it out sooner or later. If you drop some food in the tank and she starts eating you can bet she doesn't have eggs in her mouth now. They will sometimes eat while holding, but I've only seen it in the later stages of the hold.

Many first time mothers will not hold full term.But with experiance they usual;y come around.The reason she was at the top is to hide from the male who was probably harrasing her,this stres can contribute to her swallowing or spitting her eggs, but don't worry she'll come around!
