Just picked this little guy up at the LFS and I know is it's a "yellow finned"..... something.....
Any ideas?

It acually looks more violet/purple under some light if that helps any.

P. Acei? if you say its main body is purple/blue-ish

It looks purplish from the front and dark grey from the sides.... I know that probably sounds weird; but, it's what I see.
I looked at a pic of a P.Acei and this fish is nowhere near that brilliant blue - it's really more greyish-purple.
Maybe the lights are just playing tricks on my eyes or something...

That is a yellow finned borleyi (Chopadichromis borleyi).. if it is male, it will turn blue and get yellow on its sides. Females stay gray with yellow fins. A beautiful fish.. . grows to a good size too. Eight inches.

That's it! (Copadichromis borleyi)
I found a picture and it looks identical (to the female). It doesn't state how large the fish is before it turns blue if it's a male - any ideas?
Also, finding out it's a vegetarian explains why it kept spitting out the frozen brine shrimp earlier....and it's eagerness to eat the spirolina sticks this evening!

i, also, read somewhere online that it's a vegetarian, bit i'm not so sure that that's completely correct. according to ad konings, they feed on plankton. i never had any trouble with mine eating protein. as i learned in a prior discussion, there is vegetable matter in the plankton(phytoplankton), but i think that the bulk of it is protein(zooplankton).

I gave her some zooplankton and she ate it....then I tried frozen bloodworms - she those too.
She still doesn't seem to like the taste of frozen brine shrimp, though....
