Hello again, I was waiting for your new pictures!!I am almost certain the fish in the pics are Geophagus brasiliensis. In the juvinile colors. I say almost because it is my opinion. But I have seen and have actually bred this fish before and boy, if they ain't dead ringers. I almost thought from the first in the group of pictures that you may have had a Geo rhabdotus but, i have never seen this at any lfs or society meetings before. Only in the Dr. Axelrods atlas in the wild photo.

Thanks Jimez
I will take it that is what they is unlees someone else thinks not. Anyway I need to do some research on how to care for these. Also any suggestions on tankmates. I have two small africans that is doing OK with them execpt one of them bites at the Brasiliensis when they swim by. The Brasiliensis dont pay much attention to them. I would say that the africans will soon be gone. So they will have the tank to theirselves except for the catfish. They had one more of these when I bought mine Sat night. Dont know if I should see about getting a thrid one if available or just get something else. Any suggestions. I need to do a lot of research before I make a decision. Thanks again for any advice.

You will find that these are docile fish. They are not the least bit aggresive. The lfs that i visit on occasion, not my regular, has them in a 150 gallon tank with angle fish in the same tank. These are full grown fish and they don't bother them in the least. As I had stated before the are easy to keep and not all that bad to breed if you are not a beginner at it.

I did some search and if that is what they are they get big. I think keeping 3 of these would be pushing things. I was hopeing they were the dwarf size variation.

Someone else had suggested that they were Gymnogeophagus meriodonalis
