I know this is probably a stupid question but can ocellatus' (ocellati?? Who knows ??:D ) change sex.

I thought I had a harem of one big male & 3 females & then the big male died, I thought no more babies for me, Then about a month later there were fry???

I'm sure I was just wrong about the sex of one of the "females" but I had them for over a year & the one who is now apparently the male, I had for longer than I did the big male that died. The "new" male has actually about doubled in size since the big one died, even tho the "newly male" one is older.

So confused

He's probably just emerged from sub-dominant status. I had a furcifer that I couldn't tell the gender of for the longest time; just recently have I been able to see some color to indicate male.

Its a very strange thing, & I've heard of fish that can change, so I had to wonder if my fish was one of them.

I had a subdominant male occelatus that grew very slowly until I put him in a different tank. Once he got away from the dominant male, he shot up to 2 inches long from 1 1/4. He now rules the sand of my 55 gallon community tank.

Cool. This makes alot more sense than the other option :)
Thanks
