what am i going to to with him? he already got kicked out of the utaka/hap tank for hell-raising and trying to hyperdominate--now he's doing the same thing in the 90 gal. mbuna tank. the only place that i have left that he can possibly go is the 29 gal. brackish tank with the ropefish, jade gobies, mystery cichlid(sunfish?), bumblebee catfish, and a cory. he's probably gonna go head-to-head with the mystery cichlid--or maybe the gobies which are about five inches long and two inches thick will teach him some manners. i hate to lose him, but i'm running out of places to put him.

Maybe it's time to get another tank? That would make it your tank number 182, now, right :) ??

yeah--you're probably right--but it would only be tank number 12, thank you very much, chennes. there are some folks in brooklyn who offered me a 70 gal. at a really good price--but where to put it? i guess if i really got busy organizing and unpacking, i might be able to squeeze it in somewhere...my father is going to shoot me.

And Debbie is going to shoot me! when she noticed I was building a stand for a 29g, and I have a six tank stand on the way(supposively). I believe her comment was I'm surrounded by fish tanks  Do you have a basement S.Gypsy?

lol--most of my tanks are in the basement. i only have one upstairs with my dad's tanks. whatever i do--it's gotta be down here. i wouldn't dare try to put anything else upstairs! my dad's comment was: "you turned the basement into an aquarium!"

First thing I noticed when I moved here was no basements or garages in the older homes, what were the utards thinkin? I can see the no basements because the whole valley was built on a lake bed ( Lake Bonneville) but the garages? anyways I have neither.

i am curious, but this actually a serious question. Has anyone heard of giving African cichlids prozac? Believe it or not , aquaculturists put prozac in the water to induce clams to breed. it would be an interesting experiment to use for a violent fish calculating the dose would be difficult, but SSRI s are relatively benign drugs so you would be unlikely to cause harm.

Wow, now I have seen it all. SOMEONE ELSE telling SGM to get another tank! Does that seem backwards to anyone else out there

ohhhh suuure, pete--join in with the mermaid-bashing :? :? i've been real good--i've only suggested additional tanks when it's absolutely necessary. i don't know what you guys are talking about
ferdelance--how would you administer the drug to just one fish? i seem to remember reading about some weird uses for prozac in aquariums, but i think that that might be just a little too drastic for me. :D
i think that the compressiceps is mostly annoyed because everytime that he tries to do his head-down-you-can't-see-me move on a fish that's beneath him, one of the mbunas blows it by swimming over to see what he's lookin' at!

Dear gypsy mermaid
If you are at all interested in trying prozac on your fish I would be glad to calculate an estimated dose-I agree this sounds weird but better living through chemistry

i put him back in the utaka/hap tank which is now a 70 gal. tank, and so far he is behaving--hope it lasts.
