This is currently the King of my Tank

This is a 10" Midas, his name is Tempeleton and he is only 1.5 years old and I've raised him from about 3\4 fry. He loves to be petted more than any of my fish, he will often swim into my hand or start attacking anyone who comes near it. I love this fish.

Thank guys, He was exactly that same color when I got him from petsmart at a size that looked to small to even sell so I put him in a 75g accessory tank till he got up to about 3" and put him in my American tank and now he's the head honcho but not even close to the biggest.

I got my midas from petsmart also.Hes currently 6 months old and 6 inches long.

What kind of colors does he have?

i cant tell if its a male or female.its body is pale orange the fins are white and the head is bright orange.

also black patches show up every now and then but they are gone after a few days.

The way I sex Midas and Red Devils is by the hump on the belly where it meets the gills, if it is a rounder shape it is a male and more straight and slender is a female, it has worked well for me. On Red Devils I believe sometimes you can tell by the eye coloration. The black patches are most likely to go away permanately due to maturing and most cases with orange midas as young they will get the black patches from time to time but it is perfectley normal.

I've seen this fish on cichlidmadness.com and it looks 10 times more awsome now, it's like12 or 13" long it says with a huge hump. Actually this guy has alot of unreal fish posted on cichlidmadness.com.
