Does anyone own these? I saw them at the LFS tonight and was looking to find out more about them. Do they show nice color(yellowish fins like the pics) or are they mostly jjsut white. Can they live nicely with yellow labs?

Basically any info you have i would be interested in.

I think I have a Pearlmutt. Mine is all white except for some black on its fins. You can see a picture at cichlidgallery.com under BadAndy's Bad Pictures. Anyway, I had two but my L. Caeruleus killed one. The electric yellow was a real bastard. I eventually ended up taking my electric yellow back to the store. However, I do have a Labidochromis sp. Red Top Hongi and he and the pearlmutt get along fine. I think the pearlmutt that I have is especially beautiful.

I think it should be okay unless you get a mean fish.

I do not have a L. pearlmutt. I have L. caeruleus "white" so sorry for the bad information. You should check out http://www.vatoelvis.com because he has a nice section on L. Pearlmutt. Its one reason I began to suspect that I didn't have L. Pearlmutt.

degrassi--the labs should all get along, but they might hybridize.

Males are amazing, pearly body colour and bright yellow top fin, at least in my strain.

As long as you have a female for each male specie, the chance of hybridization in mbuna is rare. I have 6 species of mbuna in a 75 and hybridization has yet to occur and I have bred all 6 species at one time or another.

well that is good to know. I was thinking that if each male had his own females they wouldn't be as likely to hybridize. Thanks so much for your help
