I went through the whole Cichlid Club/Association posts and could not find anybody or any club from South Africa.
Common all you South Africans, speak to me please. Im starting to get that lonely feeling down here in the southern hemisphere.

We dont have any Cichlid club here up north in Iceland
we only have one fish club here and on meetings we mainly eat and drink because few people have the same interrest in fishes lol
Just start your own club and get people from Lfs to spread the word
How is it in south Afrika are you keeping Afrikan fishes or something else ?

You can find any fish from around the world in South Africa. But Im mostly into African fishes, they are quite regularly available from most LFS, but a lot of the LFS are uninformed or maybe uneducated in fish ID and therefor sell anything that looks like a cichlid as a Malawi, Tanyanika or some African cichlid.
So you have to be careful, Im one of the customers that fell for that and bought two Rainbow Cichlids as "Malawi's". Obviously that wasnt true and the LFS refuse to take them back cause his order said they were Malawi's.
I have to say the eat and drink meetings sounds good to me. What do you mostly drink in Iceland.
I have only seen snow in photos and movies. Strange but true. In South Africa you only get snow in certain parts of the country for about 3 months and Im not in those parts of South Africa.

Strange that LFS dont care for there customer
Here we drink the same as everybody else i guess
( but we do drink more milk and water than most people on average)
snow is something that kids love We used to have lot of snow when I was kid but its getting less and less because of global warming our glasiers are getting smaller every year
but last week we got snow for 7 days but its gone now but I took this pic of my summer car then

Well for someone who lives in afrika i dont find it strange if he never saw snow
How is it do you have some rivers or lakes there in south afrika ?
I dont remember any fish from that part but usually only the biggest rivers and lakes get review

Looks beautiful but cold. We have various lakes and rivers, but not one that really has its own review ito aquarium fish. Some Tigerfish and different type of river tilapias, barbel, but not as beautiful as the main lakes in africa. Our lake water is also dirty and is one of the main reasons I suppose.
I had the opportunity to visit Lake Malawi and Tanyanika. Stayed in Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo for 14 months. Also did some diving in a lake called Kivu in eastern part of DRC. Water is crystal clear and about 27-29 degrees celcuis due to volcanic activities. Amazing to see.

That is something that one must do in his livetime go to the big lakes
I have been diving only in the red see and the carabic but would love to got to Malawi or nearby lakes
We have cristal clear lakes and rivers but 6-8°c lol but you can drink the water straight from them but glacier rivers are white and undrinkable
but also rivers with 40°c but mostly in highland and there you go
only with 4x4 jeeps but fish flora is very poor mostly salmon and related fishes
this one comes from glacier

Thats awesome. During my stay in mid africa is always was an expereince to fly over Lake Tanyanika. Its massive, over 600km long and some places 100km wide. it feels like you are flying over the ocean. On the Burundi side of the lake, there are massive beaches next to the lake, with a little wind you actually have waves breaking on the beach. But it still doesnt come close to the picture you've send. Thats spectacular.

I was so pleased when I saw the Frontosa club website in South Africa. When I entered the site, I was so disappointed. It was some IT company with a website called www.frontosa.co.za. :duel:
Still there is no cichlid club that I could find in South Africa.
