Synodontis nigromaculatus

Yes, I know they're not cichlids, but they are Tanganyikans so I'll post here. I traded some electric yellow fry for a couple of mystery Syno's on Saturday. One's 5" and the other 8". Checking the pictures at Planet Catfish makes me think they're nigromaculatus because of the color and the ridge behind the fishes heads. Do any other Syno have ridges behind their heads? It almost looks like they're wearing masks. How big do they get? I've seen info that goes from 10" max to 15" max and Planet Catfish only had pictures.

i have to try to remember to look at the synos to see whether there's a noticeable ridge behind their heads. offhand, i don't remember seeing it on any of mine.
