Hi, I would really love to know what kind of fish I have. It is about 5-6 inches long and I have had him for almost 8 years. He is constantly moving the gravel. I call him Digger because of this.
Let me know if you have any clue! Thank you!

Either it's the way you took the picture or that fish is all head!!

It may be a little 'all head' because of the picture but he does look like that. He reminds me of a severum and a convict both at times. I would just really like to know what he may be!

Looks like possibly a female convict but might not be a pure breed. Maybe a cross, have you had it in with other fish, how is his aggression level toward tankmates?

There's absolutely no way that is a female Convict.

I have a pair of convicts in my tank and it is definately not a convict. It is twice as big as the 5 yr old female convict I do have. 'Digger' is the 'top fish' in the tank. No one would even try to bully him. I have just always assumed he was male but never sure. I have a couple bigger fish in there be they do not mess with Digger. I appreciate all the help. I am guessing at this point he may be a cross of some sort since I can't find anything like him anywhere. He does like to 'own' his half of the tank.
Thanks again!

I would love to see some more pic of "Digger". Can you take a couple more. I am quite intrigued by him. I think he's pretty cool and very unique looking...

Does this fish have long dorsal and anal fins?

If it does, it could be a Ptychochromis oligacanthus. Probably not though, but the pictures look similar in bodyshape and markings. Another pic would help.

You can post several pics at cichlidgallery.com and then provide us with a link to your gallery page. You can also insert another picture into the thread, although I'm not real competent when it comes to this, and prefer a link to a gallery page myself.
