well i am about to take down my 72gal tank and setup my new 135gal setup. i really love these fronts. they are such amazing looking fish.

anyways i have a few questions with mixing my fronts with the fish i already have. will these fish go well with my fronts.

trio of c. morri m/2f 6-8"
2 red zebra 4-5"
4 yellow labs 3-5"
1 cobalt zebra 5"
1 female kenyi 4"

dont have these fish yet but planning on buying them from a breeder soon. all are going to be bought as juveniles. i am putting these new fish in a grow out tank untill they are all around 3" in size, then plan on introducing them to the 135gal setup

2 aulonocara "eureka red"
2 aulonocara "red-shoulder peacock"
2 sunshine peacocks
2 cynotilapia "yellow blaze"

so far all my other fish get along just fine with no aggression problems.

just wanted some comments on this setup. i know nothing about compatibility when it come to africans. please help me out. i have no problem getting rid of certain fish if i have to. fronts are worth it :D

I have 4 Burundis Frontosas and they get along with pretty much any fish. And any fish will get along with the Frontosas. They are definetley my fav. fish too. They also will be like a family and hang around with one another. Among both list of fish you named off I have about 3/4 of them with my Frontosas. Definetly a cool fish that is super laid back but will not take shish from any one. 135gal. should be more than enough tank for these fish

thanx for the reply...very helpful. i also plan on keeping burandi fronts.

probably going with a colony of 6 of them.

i heard some front are very boring and just move around like snails. i heard mixed commenst on this but was wondering the personality of your burandy fronts.

also how big are your front and what size tank u using. any pics

For mixing with fronts, I'd stick to haps just because the diets match better. Mbuna tend to bloat if they get too much protein. I've also heard that mbuna can harass fronts pretty bad.

I'd also stick to fish that get too big to fit in the fronts' mouths. Peacocks should be OK if started young, but they're at the minimum safe size.

Aharris I have a Albino Cobalt with my Frontosa's and he doesnt harass them. My Frontosas range from 5 1/2inch-4 inch's long. And they are all very active but not annoyingly active. Im using a 60gal. with lots of "Lava Rock" (may be called something different somewere else). Super light wieght Rocks with lots of holes in them. Frontosas are described in most books as strict carnivores but mine go after the veggie diet I feed my other fish. I also feed them brine shrimp and TetraCichlid flakes.

There are exceptions to everything. Fish all have personalities. Just because Fronts are carnivorous doesn't mean they won't eat veggies, but they wouldn't thrive on all veggies like say Tropheus do. Another way of looking at it is this: my cats eat grass on occasion, but that doesn't mean I could make them vegetarians without seriously impacting their health.

O I totally agree with you aharris. All fish have a different personality. Yea I was just saying that my Fronts will go for veggies but they love brine shrimp 1000x more

is there any way that you could keep the 72 gal. for mbuna, and use the 135 for the fronts and haps?

That sound like a pretty good plan.
