The scientific name for the hap is Sciaenochromis fryeri, aka electric blue ahli. I've seen it described as aggro by some people, but my male is only moderately aggressive, the female is completely submissive. It might be because of the tank size (125g) or the more dominant tankmates (crabro and Dim. compressiceps).

One of these might have a picture of red empress.

Check out vatoelvis.com. I remember he had quite a bit of info on the Red Empress (Protomelas taeniolatus). I think I remember the Hap on there too.

I was quite surprised this afternoon. I was doing some business in the north part of town (where the money is) and I stopped by the Petsmart there to pick up a glass top for my 55g. They had both of these fish and some Aulonacara species and a few other Africans I'm not used to seeing in Petsmart. The Aulonacara, red empress and some others were all in the same tank so it would of been interesting to see a clerk pick out the right fish. I've seen electric blues before, but never Aulonacara or red empress in Petsmart.

The one's around here all carry jewels, electric yellows, bumble bees, lombardoi and red zebra in addition to the tank of mystery, "assorted African cichlids". They also recently started selling some Neolamprologus brichardi and a few other African rift species that I can't think of now. Some of them carry electric blues too. It seems to depend on the store even though I know they all get them from the same supplier. The fish are sent from Florida to a center in Arizona and then they go to the stores from there.
The one in Edmond, OK had the Aulonacara.

Don't wanna sound to harsh guys but I hope I NEVER see a day when Petsmart carries more africans as most of theyre employees are "Petstupid"lol If your a cichlid fan even the lfs (usualy)is bad enough. I mean say for instance you need female Maleri and they have the tank labled "sunshine" and thats all they know whats the use of them having them if they cant even tell you what they are?
