I just got my 1st pair.
I asked for dwarf chiclids and got a Pair of Red Rams? :)
Are they a species  African or New world?
They hate each other. :bawl:
They lock lips and push each other around the tank :jaw:
Is it normal
or have I got a pair of males or pair of females?
Any advice is appreciated. :)
Thx
Jeff

They are new world. Rams are from southamerica and you may have a pair . They aften test each other and fight. Females are plumper and males have high rays on the dorsal fin.

Red Rams are also their own species and not a hybrid.
A color variety (line bred)......... but a species.
Actually, now that I think of it, I'm not sure what you mean by Red Ram. I take that to mean the red variety of the Blue Ram (Microgeophagus ramirezi). If you mean otherwise, please specify........

If you mean the Bolivian Red Ram, they are Microgeophagus altispinosa, and a different species than the line bred German Blues Ram and Golden Ram and even the wildtype Blue Ram.
They can be stunning fish if kept properly.

Yeah, that's probably what he means.
Much hardier fish too!

I've had them, and they're a lot more personable than the regular rams too.
