WoW! yea while taking my former peacock bass's tank apart (R.I.P. hector) I came across a a catfish and remembered putting it in there a bout 2-3 years ago. Didnt have the heart to kill it so i put it in my cichlid tank. Be fore I put it in the tank it started meowing. And its wiscors were like zapping me. Only about an inch long. I observed it in my cichlid tank and every time a cichlid would come top it they would scurryoff as afraid. Any light on my meowing catfish (sounds like a joke).Like what it is.

Another website that you might want to try is:

This is one of my favorite sites, I have a soft spot for plecos and catfish. They're just so darn cute!

Could be one of these. I have one and it made noise when I first got it. Now I never see it, maybe once a week. It hides under some driftwood all the time. Striped raphael catfish.

HUh...What do you mean by "zapping"? Like electricity? It almost sounds like this is a vareity of electric catfish...

BTW...tons of catfish "meow"...and most species can produce some kind of audible noise...

Even the common bullhead can croak.
