Can anyone find or give me some info on these guys... the only reference that I have found is in Axelrods Atlas... then in his big book of dead cichlids he makes no comment about them. Even though he has stated that he was publishing pictures of every species that he ever photographed in the later.

The only thing I could think of was Lamprologus meleagris and I figured it couldn't possibly be what you're asking about. I couldn't find a single hit searching for "magarea". :(

Me neither Jonah, that is the problem... I am sure that I wrote it down correctly from the atlas. The Lamprologus meleagris is not it, the best description I have is Brevis with a Lyre Tail.

Hi Jay
Given your description, sounds like the Lamprologus calliurus (Neolamprologus calliurus).
Also: Try Lamprologus "magara."
