I just walked by my tank and noticed one of my cichlids is floating belly up. It is not dead. I have removed it from the tank and put it in my fish bucket with an airstone. I don't know what else to do. It is swimming around upside down. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong and what I should do?

one thing that happens a lot with glod fish is that they have an intestilal problem does he seem to be acting fairly ok just upside down?
if so i would recomend feeding him peas, and seaweed products manymanymany times a day. no more mass feeding once a day spread it out.

If a fish floats upside down, it is a good indication that it has some infection which has affected the swim bladder. This is how the fish regulates itself in submerging in the water.
You may already be too late, but I would treat it with a broad spectrum antibiotic such as ampicillin, and see what happens.
