I did a big water change today and it stirred up more than just the debris that shows up in the pictures:

The boys wanna fight

Weird pic, huh. The males in the back look a bit surreal.

The women in the gallery watch the men fight....

The subdominant male doesn't get involved in the spat.

Beyond that, look closer at the seventh photo where you can see the individual colors on the scales themselves, :ok

Now, Vereyna. That's just plain silly. Everyone knows that it doesn't snow in Central Africa. These pictures are actually documented proof that cichlids have been exploring the galaxy for quite some time now.

2nd pic knocked my socks off!!!
Now if only I knew how/why it came out this way so that I could do it again some time on purpose.

The second pic is very interesting. Just enough elements appearing in the correct fashion to cause an illusion. The effect is most noticeable with the top fish. His abdomen nearly matches with the back ground. At the same time the particles above him look like they are behind him thus the mind believes that the particles are in front of his body are actually behind him.

It's an excellent picture and the trick has to do with the flash, metering mode and depth of field. As for how to recreate it, I don't know.:hehe:

Man Kev,

You're going to make me Camp Out at the Tank with shots like that in hopes that I can capture some of the Magic. I guess I better figure out how to use Manual Mode very soon.

Nice Shooting!

Well, I made the 434 mile round trip to personally see these guys today and pick up some of the fry. The only thing I can say is that these pictures do them no justice. They're simply incredible! Very nice to meet you Kevin and "Thanks again" for your kind words of knowledge. I'll make sure others see this incredible fish the way I and my boy did today.
