why would you want to put vinegar in the water? the only uses for vinegar in a fish room(that i can think of) is for removing lime/calcium/scale buildup on the outside of tanks, or for soaking airstones.:confused:

sorry i was not clear on that. i was meaning in the kitchen sink, to see if my rocks have rust on them

you can see the rust. i think(i'm not sure) that the vinegar test is to see if the rock is calcareous like limestone, tufa, coral, etc(which would mean that it is perfect for a lake cichlid tank). anyway, you use the vinegar full strength directly on the rock .

Just make sure you rinse it super well after using the vinegar!
