I have a Blue Dolphin, well actually four. The one in question is acting odd or rather out of sorts. She is displaying black off colour markings and excelerated breathing. The largest male tends to protect or be near her when the other fish in the tank show any real interest. At feeding time she is more than active in getting to the food but will not eat when she arives.
I know Moori's are mothbrooders and can only guess...
Does these symptons look familiar to anyone...

welcome, sixstripe! is she really breathing heavily, or is she making chewing motions with her mouth. if she is holding, she wil move her mouth that way, and not eat. i've never seen male lake cichlids 'protect' females, though they will chase other fish away during spawning.

She does make those chewing motions, but still seem to draw more water in than the others.
Will have to keep wacthing, got her seperated from the rest now. We'll see.

My Labidochromis caeruleus act this way when holding. I haven't noticed in any other species though.
