Hey guys I'm new here and I have a question. I have a pair of Haplochromis Sp. "flamebacks. I believe these fish are from the Lake Victorian, . I got these fish Saturday from an auction and I wanted to breed them. I want to know ALL the information on there breeding style and what they need to breed. I thank you all in advance. :D :D :D

welcome, cichlidguy! :D i don't have any flamebacks, but i would think that if you gave them a tank with some substrate(sand, gravel) some rocky caves, and fed them a high protein diet, weekly water changes--that oughta cover it--provided of course, you've got a male and a female. are they in a tank with other cichlids? sometimes the male gets too violent if you have just one female one-on-one with him. i'm sure that someone who has actually kept them will chime in with some info for you. in the meantime, try a 'google' search with keywords like: haplochromis flameback, breeding/spawning--see what comes up.

I have all that good stuff so I hope they spawn. I don't have any other Cichlids with them. I bought them as a breeding pair so I think they must of breeded before?? I do have with them 3 Golden Apple Snails and 3 Small Plecos. I doubt those would do anything bad to them. So I will try the goggle search and see what comes up. Thanks :D :D

Hello, H.spp flameback is an detritivorous/ phytoplanctivorous haplochromine from the northern shore of Ugandan part of the lake victoria. He needs more than twoo female , if not , he will harasse them to spawn.
