Most Malawi fish can hybridize. The trick is to have them look as different as possible and keep good male/female ratios. Yellow Labs are a good mix, if you want peacocks. What size tank are you talking about keeping them in?

How were your male/female ratios. Did you have groups or just 1-2 of this fish and that fish? I have groups of 1M 3-4 F in my 125. 5 groups total. Saulosi, Red Zebra, Ps. Blue Dolphin., Maingano, Acei. No hybridization. I'm replacing the Acei with Cyno sp"'White Topped Hara"
