Hi Ed, what do you mean by G1 - is that the same thing as F1?

Hello Dogwalker: Yes,G1 and F1 are both used to denote a first generation from wild caught parents. I used to use F1 all the time, but it seems G1 is more appropriate. (I've been reading a few 'F1' or 'G1' threads)

Hello Larry, I just checked CanadaPost and next day delivery for the size styrofoam box I have 14x12x12 + weight is about 67.00
I'm way too far from the airport to go that way...
Anyhow, here's a couple video links and a picture.

Hey really nice fish you got there and you are right your prices are low.I started with some yellow calvus and I think they are spectacular cichlids. I fed them some small fry and they hunted them down pretty fast.

Yes I got them from Darius I now have 15. I hope they are easy to sell as I invested quite a lot in their tank setup. Do you sell a lot of your black calvus?

Until recently,I've been selling to other hobbyists. It's a big pain though.Only 10% of people actually show up. If you sell to stores, you'll move them fast.
After a year of letting the fry get eaten by the other fish,I've saved a clutch.160 free swimming fry. It's the biggest clutch I ever had.
I thought about buying those yellows from Darius, but I wanted some wild caughts.

I have been asking Darius about WC and he said they are extremely rare and pretty much impossible to find. It took me 8 months to get these. I really don't want to sell to fish stores as all I get is store credit and I rarely buy anything from them anymore as it is just too expensive. Do you get store credit or cash from the stores? I know what you mean by selling to the public I posted for 2 male red empress one guy sent me an email and said he would call never did. Anyway I'm sure someone will buy them.

You'll sell them. One store I get store credit, but that's alright. I'm sure he would pay cash if I asked. I bring in a dozen when I want some fish for my community tank.
Another store dropped by and bought 340.00 worth and once BigAls picked up a dozen at my price.
Just remember how long it took for you to grow them and price them accordingly.
Darius is a good guy. I took his advise and got a couple of 90 gallon tanks to raise the fry in. The breeding pair I have came from Darius when he was importing a few years ago.

Right now I have 2 -33 gal 1-65 2-20 1-40 long 1-55 long and 1- 120 gal tanks. When the time comes I will be evicting residents of the 120 and the 40 long. Darius said the 55 is good for breeding If I put caves at either end I could get 2 breeding groups and I could use the 65 for 2 more breeding groups and use the 40 and 33s for grow out and the larger ones can go in the 120.

Looks like you're all set. I use barnacles for breeding. Much easier to see whats going on inside. With a conch shell, you never know if there's eggs or wrigglers. It's also easier to remove the fry.
