i have a 20 gallon and i want to get an aggressive fish that is really nice looking and will get big, but not too big that it needs a larger tank. Its tough with such a small tank, but right now i dont have the time or money to upgrade to a 50 gallon. I hear that green terrors will be too big for a 20, but something along those lines would be great.

a single convict. maybe a single female salvini (not really sure about that one though. and a firemouth is another choice.

The Salvini is a long shot but the convict would work along with the Firemouth.

i agree with either firemouth, salvini or convict.

ive owned all 3 and they were all great. in fact i would love to get salvinis again.

i would suggest 2 salvini MAX. from my experience firemouths are a really fun fish also. dont put in a jack dempsey, simply too big the thing i hate seeing most is stunted fish, i saw a JD at the store not long ago that u could just tell was very old and had been in a 2foot tank all its life. its a bad sight.

or you could go for a dozen pretty rosy barbs! joking
