Hi Everyone,
New to the site and fairly new to keeping Africans. Been keeping New World Cichlids for years but decided to try something different recently.
Right now I have a 55G set up with a pair of Brichardi and two juvenile peaocks (not sure of the species yet - they weren't labelled at the LFS). Anyhow, the Brichardis have spawned twice already and the fry died off without reaching maturity. Now I have a third spawn and would like to raise as many as possible to adulthood.
So here's the question - I'm guessing the high mortality of the prior broods may have had to do with malnutrition. Feeding is a challenge since the food (newly hatched brine) goes everywhere but the fry don't chase much of it down.
Is a 55G just too big of a tank to raise this size brood (avg ~50 or so per spawn)? If not, then what's the trick?
Thanks in advance!
