After being out of it for sometime due to college and various moves, I've finally got a house of my own and I'm ready to start fish keeping again... I love Tanganyikans and though my wife wants a saltwater tank, I've told her my first couple are going to be for my african cichlid friends...
I'm starting small, a 5½ gallon, that I would like to set up as a "Nano Rift" (such a clever pun... ) in my office. I kept a pair of N. Brevis in it years ago, and they seemed very happy (lots of babies) and this time I'm thinking about N. Multifasciatus... But I'd like a second species... Would a pair of J. Transcriptus be ok in that tank as well? I've kept them before, but not for very long because of the college thing... If not together, would the julies be ok in a tank that small by themselves? I've got lots of rock work, some nice cliffs and caves for such a small tank, and I'd add ½ a dozen or so Neothauma shells in a pile in a corner for the multi's if I got them.
Ideally I'd like to have the pair of julies and a male and two or three female multi's...
Thoughts?
