Has anyone ever used the VHO fluorescent tubes that fit a standard T-12 fixture? They are supposed to be 3 times brighter than a standard fluorescent. They only last 6-8 months unless you add an electronic ballast, and then they last 12-18 months. But, they are inexpensive in comparison to other bulbs.
And.....I am using PowerGlo and MarineGlo bulbs. I really like the color, but they are T-10 and don't fit very well in a T-12 fixture (bump them too hard and they'll go out, then you have to mess with them to get them to come back on). Is there a T-12 that has the same light spectrums?
Thanks, Sam

The VHO bulbs need a ballast that can drive them( or you could jury-rig a NO ballast).
As far as expense, they are much more expensive than standard NO bulbs.

If you are looking for similar actinic or 10K bulbs, try the Zoomed T-8's.

I'm trying to avoid T-8's & T-10's. My fixtures use T-12.
