I recently picked up a trio of gorgeous "rock kribs" from Lake Victoria. I would like some info from those who have kept Victorian cichlds. I'm a firm beleiver in researching before you buy but heck I have 20tank at the house so they came home with me. Just want some input as I surf the web for more info.

Temperment?
Breeding (easy/hard)?
At what size do they spawn?
Diet?
Overall personal experience.

Here are mine. There are more links at the bottom of that web page.

There are several different kinds of rock kribs but the yellow are by far the most common.
Temperament = Only moderately aggressive (a little more aggressive than your average labidochromis)
Breeding = fairly easy but not nearly as frequent as my mbuna
Breeding size = mine were about 2 inches (but then they are less than 3 inches TL full grown)
Diet = Again like mbuna mostly veggies

I've had rock kribs for over 4 years now and they are great especially the males (see below)

Hi, the one on the top pic looks like Mwanza gulf rockkribensis, I don't know the second.
Yu can have infos on the Haplochromis site: http://www.Haplochromis.org / go on the species in the aquariology, select and validate.
Good reading

my rk half crimson are a healthy 4.5 inches, I leaft my flock with a friend for 8 months and they gained 2 inches! the cleaner striped varieties seem much milder but the half crimsons have been pretty aggresive. They deserve a bigger tank than a 20 in the long run. You may want to strip the babies at day 9 or move females to another tank when holding. please post a picture when you see the male color.

Mine just spawned, they are about 3 inches. I did have 3 but 1 female died. She is still holding her eggs, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I feed regular flake and pellets, and treat brine shrimp and krill occasionally. I have them in a 90g with a mix of malawi and astatotilapia brownaes, which are the ones they battle with the most. Keep you posted. They are gorgeous
