Hi there... I was wondering if someone can help me on the compatiblity of some cichlids..

Tiger Oscars
Albino Tiger Oscars
Black Belt Cichlid
Black Convict Cichlids

This is what my tank consists of... (just added the albino oscar and the convict cichlids)

Are they compatible? I have been searching the net, but have NOT found any answers to this question.. Can you help me?

thanx :)

How many of each and how big's the tank? If the tank is big enough and the numbers small enough they should get along fine. If the convicts are a pair and start breeding you might have problems in a smaller tank.

I have 2 male tiger oscars (8-9 inches), 1 female albino tiger(4 inches), 3 black convicts(1.5 inches) and 1 black belt (3.5 inches). I am not sure on the sexes of the convicts or the black belt. The black convicts and albino tiger oscar, I just got last night, they are juveniles and the black belt has been in the tank about three weeks. My two oscars, I have had over 1 year. The tank is 75 gallon.

let me know what you think :)

That tank is not quite big enough. Given the max size of your fish are as follows

Oscars (regardless of color)- Can reach 14"
Black Belt- Can reach 12"
Convicts- 4-6"

A 125g would probably be the bare essentials. 150g or 180g would be much better. I wouldn't try to keep more than 2 of the larger cichlids in that tank. And if the convicts get to aggressive for the oscars they would have to go also.

If you can't buy a bigger tank, you should proabbyl make sure that all of the convicts you plan to keep are females, return an oscar and a black belt, and replace them with some pictus cats, silver dollars, australian rainbows, ect. Also, make sure your filter can handle all of these fish, and that you are doing water changes weekly.

I think Rex meant he "wouldn't" try to keep more than 2 of the larger cichlids.

Or I might be completely wrong. :?

I had a 8-10" black belt that would abuse my dovii  and was only kept in line by the big oscar 8) . My tank was a 38 gallon at the time and I had to get rid of the black belt  . In a larger tank it shouldnt have been a problem.

If you plan on keeping all of those fish I would suggest 120 gallon or larger aquarium with hiding areas for the smaller/ less aggressive fish.

Good Luck
