Hi again i recenly purchased some sand for my tank about a week ago and i noticed tha when my fish get scared or just turning it up that it stays suspended in the water and some of the sand gets sucked in the filter (i have a h.o.t. magnum canister) it is your regular sand that you buy at the lps or did i get the wrong grade of sand cause its kinda fine grade cause i didn't want it to tear up my filter from sucking in too much sand:confused:

and also that they have a hard time digging in it cause it just falls from their mouths and out their gills thats why i was wondering if i needed a bigger grade

I would recommend pool filter sand, I have it in all of my tanks. It requires almost no washing, and it is very heavy, so it doesn't stir up easily. You can pick up up for 5-7 dollars a bag @ any swimming pool supply store.

You could also cover the intakes of your filter with a sponge.

I converted all my tanks to sand about 6 mos. ago. I used #20 grit pool filter sand, and it settles pretty quickly. The fis love it!
