I was looking for something to put in my 10 gallon brevis tank to take care of food and algae. I tried clown plecos but could never keep them alive due to sensitivity to salt. (things I should have known before buying them) Anyway I bought a zebra snail. If anybody is lookign for a good looking algae cleaner get one of these guys. They aren't massive, you can distinguish between and male and female by the shell. Best of all they are sustrate egg layers so if you have one you won't have any eggs or other sanils all over the glass. They are awesome. The thing is an algae and such eating machine. The tank is spotless.

By the way my brevis leave him alone as well

I recently added an ivory snail to my n. multifasciatus(sp?) tank. I have 2 females and 1 male and about a bazillion fry (25 and then some and my two females are gravid - again! I tell my wife they are F-Happy) and the ivory snail does a decent job. I don't mind having lots of tiny little snails because what I do is put a rock in the tank and when there are many small snails on the rock - I then put the rock in my tank with clown loaches and my blue rams (sorry for the really bad run-on sentence). They go to town on them. I might try the zebra snail though- if it seems like it is doing a good job. I admit - the last snail I had was a gold snail and I don't know if ivory snails do the same thing. We'll see.

Sounds terrific! Which mollusk species have you got? (There are a lot of "zebra snails," but the only ones I know about are marines.)

Here is the best I can do for the snail. Here is a pic.

I can't find it anywhere. I bought it at big als in the planted tank. They call it a zebra snail, but I have yet to find one to get some info.
