Do you guys know anything about this fish? I saw some pics an armke's website, and there was a pretty interesting article about them . I want to get some, so I been shopping around for them. I talked to some people at a lfs today, and they were saying that they are the same as the red peacock. What do you guys think?

I found the fish you were talking about http://www.thecichlidstore.com/new_page_2.htm there about $20.

I just bought some. They are the same species with color variation due to the regions they come from. Actually there is some debate to as if they are actually a different species or not.

I bought some large ones for $80.00 2 females and a really nice male. They are wild species so the price is higher. But now all the other fish in my tank look dull!

I thought the Rubescen was a German made fish. I had looked up information and through one of AOL message boards I found that out. Also I see these guys with a handfull of names. Wish i could find proof of their where abouts, also to find them again locally.

A. rubescens was line bred in Gemany by using A. maleri to bring out the red in the fish. Due to its striking appearance and coloration, it has remained a hot item in the cichid market.

Cool, thanks MalawiMayhem. That sums it up for me. I see where my confusion was coming from now.
