i had about 8 fishies in with this guy and i took them to my lfs last week to prepare for my incomming victorians i also while i have the tank apart i switched to sand for a substrate well since i did so my Astatotilapia latifasciata hides all the time and as far as i have seen does not eat or anything is this normal for a fish to do there is only a spotted catfish a sucker fish and a pleco in this tank with him at the moment they all seem fine (they are eating and swimminig about the tank and such ) he is just worring me is he just ajusting to him being the only "fish" in the tank or is it something else ??

thanks in advance for your help

IME, Victorians need company - even more so than their cousins from Lake Malawi. He probalby won't 'adjust' to being alone. he's probably eating, just not while you're watching. these fish didn't evolve to live alone and don't do well without others around.

i'm happy to report that my fishie is out eating and swimming around today i'm pretty sure it was just over the drastic changes in the tank
